UCIAA ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

This invitation-only award recognizes incoming undergraduate students of UC Irvine who demonstrate academic excellence, community service and leadership potential.

AWARDS

  • Endowed Freshman Award: Up to $10,000 for freshman, paid over a maximum of four academic years.
  • Endowed Transfer Award: Up to $5,000 for transfer students, paid over a maximum of two academic years.
  • Book Scholarships: Range from $500 – $1,500 for freshman and transfer students, paid once over the current academic year.

Deadline

The application period is open. Scholarship applications will close Friday, July 12, 2024 at 4 p.m. PDT.

Annual renewal is dependent upon review of academic performance. Applicants need not be affiliated with a UC Irvine alumnus to apply.

Application Process

These scholarships are by invitation only. Admitted undergraduate students who have submitted a Statement of Intent to Register and meet the criteria for qualifications will be invited to apply for the UCIAA Endowed Scholarship. The invitation will be sent electronically to students to their email provided on their UC Irvine college application

Eligibility Requirements

  • Freshmen: Requires a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.65.
  • Transfer Students: Requires a minimum unweighted college GPA of 3.65 and the equivalent of 90 or more transferable quarter units.

Award Notification

Recipients will be notified of the award in September 2024.

Selection Process

Alumni serve on the UC Irvine Alumni Association’s scholarship selection committee, review applications and essays, convene to determine final candidates and notify recipients.

ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to the UCIAA Endowed Scholarship, applicants will also be considered for book scholarships ranging between $500 and $1,500 sponsored by a variety of UCIAA’s alumni leadership and chapter programs. These groups create a national network of dedicated alumni volunteers who represent UCIAA in their local regional, constituency and academic communities. This year’s 2024-25 sponsoring organizations include:

  • Armenian American Alumni Chapter – Supporting students demonstrating a consistent commitment to the benefit and advancement of the Armenian community on and/or off campus.
  • Black Alumni Chapter – Supporting students demonstrating a commitment to the Black/African-American community.
  • Engineering Alumni Society Chapter– Supporting students pursuing studies in engineering.
  • Filipino American Alumni Chapter – Supporting students who have a consistent commitment to the Filipino American community.
  • Information and Computer Science Alumni Chapter – Supporting students who have a passion and interest in computer technology.
  • Iranian American Alumni Chapter – Supporting students demonstrating a consistent commitment to the Iranian American community through on- and/or off-campus activities.
  • Korean American Alumni Chapter – Supporting students actively involved in the Korean American community.
  • Latino Alumni Chapter – Supporting students committed to the advancement of the Latinx community.
  • Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Alumni Chapter – Supporting students who have a passion for law enforcement or similarly related public service fields.
  • Orange County Alumni Chapter – Supporting students who live, work or have graduated from an Orange County high school.
  • UCI Planning Alumni Chapter – Supporting students pursuing majors in urban studies or environmental science and policy.
  • Vietnamese American Alumni Chapter – Supporting students demonstrating a commitment to the Vietnamese community.
  • Young Alumni Council – Supporting students demonstrating outstanding community leadership qualities.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow directions carefully and complete the application accurately in its entirety.

  • All application documents must be submitted on standard 8.5” x 11” paper.
  • Do not staple.
  • Do not print double sided.
  • A final transcript is required.
  • An unofficial transcript including the applicant’s name in print is acceptable.
  • We cannot obtain transcripts from the Office of Admissions.
  • Only completed applications with all required documents will be accepted.
  • You may not amend or update submitted applications.
  • No exceptions made for application materials submitted after the deadline.
  • We will not confirm receipt of application materials.
