Purchasing a grad package does not confirm your student’s completion of required documentation or coursework for graduation. Students should contact their respective academic advisors for details regarding eligibility and applications to graduate.

Do I have to wear a cap and gown during my celebration?

Yes, appropriate regalia is required for all in-person ceremonies. The required items include a black cap (or tam for Ph.D. students during Spring ceremonies), gown and tassel (and hood for Master’s and Doctorate students).

Exceptions include UC Irvine Ph.D. professional regalia

Are sashes and stoles required?
Sashes and stoles are not required but if students would like them, they can be purchased at The Hill.

I graduate in Spring 2025, do I have to buy my cap and gown now?
No, this Grad Expo is for students graduating in Fall 2024. There will be another Grad Expo in the Spring for students graduating in Spring 2025.

What items are available for purchase?
Exclusive Grad Packages are available that range from basic grad packages to a Life Premium pack. Prices vary on degree level.

Items sold individually for Fall 2024 include cap, official UC Irvine tassel, stacked 2024 tassel, rhinestone 2024 tassel, bachelors gown, masters gown, and masters hood.

What’s included in my basic cap and gown package?
The bachelor package will include the cap, bachelor’s gown, Anteater zipper pull, and official UC Irvine tassel.

The master package will include the cap, master’s gown, official UC Irvine tassel, Anteater zipper pull, and school-specific colored master’s hood.

The doctoral package will include the tam, doctoral gown, official UC Irvine tassel, Anteater zipper pull, and doctoral hood.

How do I know what size gown I need to order?
Your gown size is based on your height (feet aka imperial measurements). Caps and tams are one size fits all. Unfamiliar with the height conversion between the metric and imperial? Use this conversion website

Can I order my cap and gown package online?
For a limited time, Cap and Gown packages will be available for purchase online.

I already have a gown and only need my cap/tassel/hood. Where can I purchase these items?
Graduating students will be able to purchase individual official UC Irvine gowns, tassels, stacked “2024” tassels and rhinestone “2024” tassels, caps, and hoods online for a limited time. There are no walk-up sales at the Newkirk Alumni Center outside of Grad Expo.

Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. MasterCard, Visa and Discover are all accepted forms of payment. We do not accept American Express.

When will I get my cap and gown package?
If you selected to have your order shipped, please place your order by Dec. 2, 2024 to ensure adequate time for processing and shipping. Restrictions apply. See shipping policy for details.

For domestic orders, please allow a minimum of 1-2 weeks for order processing before our order is shipped. Once your order is shipped, your package should arrive within 5-7 business days, pending any service issues from the courier service. International order delivery timeframes are subject to customs as dictated by your government.

Our guarantee. If you received a damaged or defective item, please contact us at alumni@uci.edu within 5 days of order delivery so that we can rectify the situation. Any disputes with regard to product quality must be initiated within 5 days of order delivery.

Do I return my regalia after my ceremony?
No. The UCI student regalia program is a purchase, not rental, program for all students except MBA, Law and Medicine doctoral students. All other students will keep their regalia sets after the commencement ceremonies.

 

Where can I get information regarding the Commencement?
The UC Irvine Alumni Association does not control Commencement ticketing or celebrations. Please check the official UC Irvine Commencement website at commencement.uci.edu for information as it becomes available.

Diploma plaques are no longer available as part of our graduation packages. If you are inquiring about your diploma plaque from a previous graduation year, please email alumni@uci.edu.
