An accomplished, dynamic and results-driven healthcare executive committed to driving innovation and improving patient care, Ramin Mousavi is the recipient of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award from The Paul Merage School of Business.

Ramin is the president and CEO and a board member of CathWorks, an innovative global medical device company dedicated to improving patient care.

After earning his B.S. from the UC Irvine Samueli School of Engineering in electrical engineering in 2008, Ramin continued his education at UC Irvine, earning his MBA from The Paul Merage School of Business in 2011. A lifelong learner, he later completed programs in Leadership for Healthcare Transformation at the Leadership Development Institute at Merage and Business Innovation in Global Healthcare at Harvard Business School.

Ramin is passionate about leadership, often noting how actions are more powerful than words, and he is committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders “to learn more, do more, dream more and become more.” An active philanthropist, he serves on the boards of several local nonprofits, including the Council on Aging – Southern California and the American Heart Association.

Ramin has received numerous honors for his leadership and innovation. From the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce, he was named 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year and recognized in the 40 Under 40 list. Additionally, Ramin received the 2022 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award and he was named 2023 Innovator of the Year by the Orange County Business Journal,

Under his leadership, CathWorks was honored as an Outstanding Emerging Technology Company in 2022 and received Octane’s 2023 Deal of the Year award. In 2024, CathWorks received recognition from the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce as one of the MedTech Organizations of the Year. In 2025, CathWorks was a finalist for the Best Technology Company Leadership at Octane’s High Tech Awards.

Ramin remains engaged with the Merage School, serving as chair of the Dean’s Leadership Circle and vice chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board. In 2023, he was honored to serve as the Distinguished Commencement Speaker at the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business, in recognition of his professional achievements and commitment to education.
