Chancellor’s Award of Distinction

Honoring exceptional graduating seniors whose academic excellence, leadership and service have made a lasting impact on the UC Irvine community.

RECOGNIZING UC IRVINE’S MOST OUTSTANDING GRADUATES

The Chancellor’s Award of Distinction recognizes an exceptional group of graduating students who demonstrate a commitment to cutting-edge research, leadership, or service to UC Irvine. This prestigious honor celebrates undergraduates who exemplify academic excellence, integrity and meaningful engagement within the campus community.
Recipients will be honored with:
  • An award certificate signed by the Chancellor.
  • A blue and gold cord to be worn at Commencement.
  • Name listed in the commemorative Commencement program.
  • An invitation to the Chancellor’s Award of Distinction awards dinner in June.
Selection Criteria

Graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and an outstanding record of involvement in and contribution to the UC Irvine campus community are eligible for the Chancellor’s Award of Distinction. Awardees demonstrate exemplary character while devoting their time and talents to research, leadership, or service that benefits the UC Irvine campus community.

Selection Process
The selection process is coordinated by the UC Irvine Alumni Association. A committee of alumni reviews submitted application materials and evaluates candidates based on established criteria. The committee identifies extraordinary students from each school to be honored.
Application Process

Qualified applicants with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are required to submit:

  • A completed application form.
  • An official or unofficial UC Irvine transcript from the Registrar’s Office.
  • A letter of recommendation from a UC Irvine faculty or staff member.
  • A resume or curriculum vitae.
  • A personal essay detailing qualifications for the honor.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to follow application instructions carefully. Award recipients are announced just prior to graduation. No phone calls please.
