Distinguished Anteater Award

A merit based award recognizing outstanding UC Irvine undergraduates who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership and meaningful contributions to the campus community.

HONORING COMMITMENT AND CAMPUS INVOLVEMENT

Established in 2007, the Distinguished Anteater Award recognizes current UC Irvine undergraduate students who demonstrate a strong commitment to the university through their involvement in campus affiliated programs, student organizations, research initiatives or community projects. This award celebrates students whose engagement enriches the UC Irvine experience.

Award
Recipients receive $1,500, distributed as $500 per quarter over one academic year.
Application Process
Students must submit the UC Irvine Continuing Student Scholarship Application online by the published deadline. A letter of recommendation and a complete UC Irvine transcript must be uploaded and submitted with the application to be considered. An experienced alumni volunteer panel established by the UC Irvine Alumni Association reviews all applications.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Undergraduate students who have completed at least 45 units of UC Irvine accepted coursework.
  • Plan to attend UC Irvine full time through June 2028.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrated commitment to UC Irvine affiliated programs.

This is a one time award. Previous recipients are not eligible to apply. Students graduating prior to the 2026–27 academic year are not eligible.

Deadline
Applications are due at the end of January each year.
Award Notification

Award notifications are released in late May.

Selection Process

The UC Irvine Alumni Association’s scholarship selection committee reviews applications and essays and identifies final candidates for the award.
